Is the membership really available at no additional cost?
Yes, it’s at no extra cost to you! There are no sign-up or monthly fees for membership in the SilverSneakers Fitness Program.
Are there any additional charges?
If you stay within the limits of a basic membership, there are no additional charges. However, if you request any services that are not included in a “basic” membership for a regular member, an additional charge will be added. For example, personal training or massage therapy will cost extra and are only available if you want to pay an extra fee.
What is the SilverSneakers class?
The SilverSneakers class is a total body conditioning class designed to increase muscular strength, endurance, range of movement, flexibility, balance, agility and coordination. Our classes are an hour in length and are offered several times a week. Classes are taught with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball. A chair is available for students to use for seated or standing support.
Classes are taught by Senior Advisor, Theresa Vold under the direction of Fit for Life owner, Sheila Rolling.
What do I need to know about starting an exercise program?
- Wear comfortable clothing and rubber-soled shoes (sneakers)
- Have a water bottle with you and drink often.
- Remember to listen to your body.
It is ok to slow down and rest.
SilverSneakers I – Muscular Strength & Range of Movement
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY:Tahoma } exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are provided for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers II – Cardio Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
SilverSneakers YogaStretch Class Description
YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing excercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
